Windows 10 does not allow users to disable updates completely. In turn, Windows will automatically check for updates, often in the middle of a recording session. This can cause data loss, and worse case, crash the recording software and restart the computer. To reduce the chance of this occurring, Neuralynx recommends Automatic Updates be Paused during your sessions.
- From the Windows Settings window, select Update & Security
- Select Advanced options
- Under the Pause updates section, click the drop down indicating the date updates will resume, and select the desired date. Neuralynx recommends the maximum defer time.
In between your recording sessions, or about every 1-2 weeks, enable updates and download any updates required for Windows security. When complete, repeat the pause steps.
In addition to normal Windows updates, Neuralynx suggest you periodically check for driver updates on some devices such as graphics cards. For more information on this, see the Driver Update article.
